I have found through experience that this is a good thing to do. When you have limited funds and many who need help, funding a fund-raising effort can be the answer. It results in more money than you could have given in the first place and leaves resources for others. Considering the Congressional races are so terribly lopsided regarding funding (R's have so much more than D's) I would not want to see the DNC put all their eggs in to one basket.
