(52 posts)Just speculation on my part, but it seems that looking for the underlying problem could help. It seems like whenever we look into these people they were either influenced by all the hate rhetoric that goes around now, like the Charleston shooter, or by a sense of hopelessness and a feeling of personal failure. Better living conditions for the masses would help lessen the amount of people who can't take anymore and snap.
Background checks and closing the gun show loophole would help, but need to be done on the national level to work. That won't happen unless campaign finance rules change so legislators actually have to worry about the voters instead of NRA donors. Sure some harden criminals could still get guns, but these mass shooters seem to not be that type.
Life being so difficult for so many people I feel is the biggest underlying issue.
