John Oliver is stating some facts.

Fact: Most mentally ill people are not violent.

Fact: Most violent people are not mentally ill.

Fact: There's no way to distinguish the dangerous would-be-shooters in advance from everybody else using mental health diagnoses, and certainly no way to even try that without shitting on people's rights and turning the Constitution into toilet paper.

Fact: The real problem is easy access to guns.

Fact: The NRA always steers the conversation to mental illness after a mass-shooting, scapegoating the most vulnerable among us for cheap political points, so we're not talking about revamping firearms safety laws and cutting into their profitability.
