My advice: start walking door to door. If you are married, get your wife out there meeting people.

The big secret is meeting people and feeling love for them.

About 25 years ago, a young woman appeared at our door. She talked to my husband and daughter. They liked her, and my husband and I spoke to her. She has run in many elections, served in different offices over the years and is one of the most popular and powerful politicians in the LA area.

Her secret was talking to many, many, many people one-on-one about her political views and her plans.

I like to tell people who are running for office about her because she succeeded without a lot of money. People who actually meet you and talk to you and like you will vote for you no matter how much money the other candidate has.
