GOP Congressman Steven Fisher for saying "Jesus would oppose food stamps" and calling food stamps "theft" while
-surprise, surprise -
raking in $2.5 million in farm subsidies

Yes, the Jesus of the Christian Bible would certainly oppose food stamps ... and any other stingy formulation of "aide" that put families through the humiliation that is imposed by access to "food stamps" as that program is administered in most - especially Republican - states. Jesus would be open handed and open hearted (the definition of "liberal"
in assuring that the least fortunate among us were well housed, well fed, and well loved for their own sake as God's children and not seen as some type of burden on the most selfishly hypocritical among us.
