Never mind what happened when he was a kid.
"Dr. Carson... would you say the world is around 4 Billion years old, or around 10,000 years old?'
Carson: "Around 10,000."
BZZZZZTTT "Next contestant! Thanks for playing, and goodbye."

It's a test - a really simple test - of whether science and reason hold a place in Carson's world view. Anybody... brain surgeon or not.. who thinks the world is 10,000 years old is incapable of leading this country in the 21st Century.
There's lots more.... Carson says that the power of God has directed him to run. He thinks - contrary to science - that homosexuality is a choice. He thinks Islam was founded by Esau rather than Mohammed. He didn't know the Sunni and Shia were deadly enemies and thought they could form an alliance.
Carson is/was a brilliant neurosurgeon. An expertise in one area doesn't make him qualified to be president.
