(12,194 posts)I have yet to see a 10 system that was worth a shit for gaming, for example. Email, social media and youtube? Sure. Waste of power time and resources IMO, but each to their own.
Meanwhile, I run 16 game instances of one MMO I play, playing 16 copies of the same game at once with a different character on each...on a stout 7/64 4.5ghz gaming/home theater rig.
All I've experienced with 10 so far is bloat, sluggishness, and frustration each and every time I touch a PC with it, with very few exceptions (count them on one hand with fingers left over "few"
. On the other hand, 7 runs anything and everything I throw at it in multiples. A typical session for me, is this:
1 or 2 open DU pages, 2 nautical pages, 12-16 game instances, one page with google up, and regularly a blu ray/other movie in a window in one corner of my screen. On occasion, MAME or other emulators like the neogeo emulator or the cps2 arcade machine emulators on top of those...not that the emulators take much resources...but you get the point.
Not to mention the touch screen thing. I don't desire a cell phone with a big screen. I desire a machine that does exactly what I want, when I want, at the speed I want it done at or faster (sometime yesterday would be perfect). I run on a 49 inch led lcd hdtv (My wife jokingly refers to it as the "bat computer"
, and anyone who might try to touch the screen would get their hand slapped.
I've been basically attached at the hip to one PC or another since the day dad brought home a commodore 64 and a stack of TPUG/Byte magazines in the 80s. Thats old school, not 7.
