Even then, Obama said he would not send in ground troops.

This mission is not against Assad, it's against IS, and it will probably be a lot messier and strategically confusing than the Libya-like air war that was envisioned in 2013.
The fact that the units our forces are advising are almost entirely Kurds could blow up in our face with the friction that exists between Kurds, Arabs, Turks & the entrance of Russian forces has greatly compounded the risk of this intervention.
I can't comprehend how anyone Obama or Hillary listens to believes this is a good idea, or what the definition of "victory' is supposed to mean.
