Is being a progressive bad now? [View all]

I just had someone respond to one of my post, saying "there aren't enough of you self declared "progressives" to make a thimble full of difference."
I've also seen the term "hippy punching" referring to progressives and/or liberals in several posts.
I don't comb through a lot of post so the frequency in which I have seen derogatory comments in regards to self-identifying progressives or liberals is odd to me.

When did being a progressive or liberal make a person a second class citizen on DU or in the Democratic Party?
