3. How can anyone with the least bit of political savvy

think that Trump is finished in the political arena, just because of a crappy SNL appearance?

Ludicrous.

Very few of the type that will vote for Trump even watch SNL, as they consider it a left-leaning cheerleader for any Democratic candidate or the actions of elected Democrats.

The ones that did tune in and watch, will make excuses to the effect that they, whoever "they" are, intentionally wrote and directed the show in order to present Trump in the worst possible light.

Those that actually present a negative critique of Trump will be labeled as "haters" and "stupid liberals".

Ain't nobody gonna win but NBC, who can go to sponsors and say: "Hey look how popular we are with all cross-sections of the viewing audience!"

Revenues will rise for NBC.

Democracy will lose, both sides will claim a victory.

And the sun will rise in the east, again.
