(20,582 posts)10. More and more, you can't look for employment,
scout out housing, find affordable services, aid organizations, gov't services, etc. etc. without the internet. Public wifi in libraries, coffee shops, hot-spots all over the place are easily accessible free of charge. What are they supposed to do, NOT take advantage of this in order to try to get help for their situation, or even be able to communicate with family and friends? I can't imagine anyone even trying to survive today without it.

You can connect to the internet on a smart phone. And you can get a pay-as-you-use smart phone now.
