(14,733 posts)12. Obviously it depends on what you want to call 'poor'.
I've known of multiple homeless folks who have post over at DK over the years. And many public libraries have machines to let folks get online for free, at least half an hour or an hour a day.
Also whether you're talking wealth vs income. I've still got a house, but my income the last 6 years has been well below the poverty line. I strongly suspect some of my other online friends are below the line as well, even if they are unwilling to say so, but just note that their financial situation is precarious to dire constantly.
There are surely millions of hand to mouth, paycheck to paycheck folks online.

You can connect to the internet on a smart phone. And you can get a pay-as-you-use smart phone now.
