at home and who were raised, day-to-day, outside the French cultural milieu....if we're referencing the Hebdo business.

It's not the great-grandchildren of deGaulle shooting up the streets--it's disaffected, isolated, ghettoized first generation French - Algerians...and others.

France has never been hostile towards people who ASSIMILATE. They have always been hostile towards people who want to make demands with regard to French culture or language. Just ask Rouhani, who wanted halal meat and no wine at dinner--or ELSE. The "or else" ended up being "Ya want breakfast then? No? Ta hell wid' ya!"
