In reply to the discussion: "If the election were held today, a lot of people would be very surprised." [View all]Mitt will win probably 38 - 43% of the vote. About 65% of those people will think Obama is some kind of Islamic/Communist Manchurian candidate who was born in Kenya. The other 35% will have been persuaded that Obama didn't do enough to turn the economy around, but won't realize that Mitt's ideas are worse; or will be long time republicans who can't make themselves vote for anyone else.
My point is basically that no one who can be classified as a 'swing voter' is likely to want Mitt based on either policy positions or personal resonance, and I don't thing the "tea party" bigots are actually that numerous.
