Not everything is done for nefarious reasons. One the bad aspects of the internet is that people seem to become very cynical after a while.

I assume that unless there is a reason to think someone is just looking for attention, we assume they simply want to let their friends, especially longtime members, that they are okay, that they are just moving on.
