in many states as the Democratic Party abandons the "issue," and the violent attacks gain increasingly impunity in the face of a numbed and lethargic public.

Curiously, even a border state like Texas can serve as a staging area for systematic transport of women to reputable clinics in Mexico; I lent my car to assist a woman who needed an abortion in Nueva Laredo in 1970. Other interior states will need more capital-intensive assistance to get to clinics.
