Omaha and its neighbors in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa will be under a winter storm warning Thursday.

Rain changing to a freezing rain-sleet mix and finally to snow is forecast throughout Thursday and Thursday night over parts of the two states, according to the National Weather Service office in Valley.

“It’s the icing that we’re most concerned about,’’ said Becky Kern, a meteorologist at the weather service.

Southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa should see ‘‘significant icing amounts,” Kern said, with parts of northeast Nebraska getting up to 1 inch of snow.
