(111,351 posts)and I'm rarely disturbed by those, even if they're in racks near the door, ready to go. I understand the reason for them and no one is parading around with them showing off how powerful they are. They're necessary rural tools.
I also know hunters and target shooters here in the city who keep the guns broken down in a closet and the ammo locked up elsewhere so if the kids find the guns, the damage will be limited. Again, no problem.
However, if I see some oaf with shaky masculinity swaggering around with a big ugly gun across his back, I will leave the area quickly. He might not be planning mass murder that day, but he's got a screw loose and I don't want to take the chance.
Ditto fools who keep guns in purses, their waist bands, and other places not specifically designed to keep guns secured and not firing at random when they're out and about. Careless people with guns are just as dangerous as nutballs.
Ditto the screwballs who have arsenals.
Most people I know who keep guns around are in the first group. A few are in the second. I avoid the rest like the plague on society they are.
