(55,861 posts)regarding the package, i doubt it is of great concern to the usps as long as the they did not interfere with the delivery (they didn't obscure the addressee) and did not damage it.
"damage" here is open to interpretation. obviously had they put a swastika on it that would be easily recognized as damaging it. but currently shoving "merry christmas" down someone's throat is not widely recognized as being as obnoxious as it really is. it's quite unlikely that any judge or bureaucrat is likely to think it worth their while to intervene. look at the lame defense of "in god we trust" on our currency.
(to those who dispute this point, note that o.p. had made it clear that earlier "merry christmas" messages were not well received. one could argue that the first time was innocent and well-intended, but if someone keeps it up after being notified that it is not taken well, then it is plainly obnoxious to continue.)
in short, you're right, but you're not going to get any joy challenging it.
