158. i disagree about the "just how easily" part. this is exactly the problem.

too many are dismissive of other peoples' feelings when it comes to things like this.

as i noted above, there is a difference between the first time someone says something religious or quasi-religious and gets an adverse response and subsequent times.

writing "merry christmas" and underlining it on private mail intended for specifically the one person you already know is offended by that very phrase is deliberately obnoxious. it's not a matter of being easily offended. getting in a big uproar about the very first time someone says that to you, sure. but after you've made your position clear? no, the recipient of such treatment has every right to be completely pissed about such rude behavior.

whether or not anything can effectively be done is the only thing really up for reasonable debate. getting pissed about it is not.
