(30,518 posts)I was surprised that they had such good sales. I hadn't been at a Bloomingdale's in a long time, there are none near me and I don't feel like going to the Upper East Side of Manhattan to the flagship store. I was in PA during Thanksgiving and I went to the King of Prussia Mall outside Philadelphia with a friend. We first went to Macy's, tons of sales. I put some gift certificates to good use. LOL!!
I loved Filene's Basement. I'm sorry that it doesn't exist anymore. So many iconic stores are gone. My mother used to sew very well and loved Woolworth. As a little girl we used to go to a big Woolworth near City Hall in Philadelphia. Most of my Barbies came from that store. We would have lunch at the counter and then go to John Wanamaker's. That was a gorgeous store with a famous eagle in its center. They had a fantastic organ and one could listen to the organist play and have tea in the afternoon.
Ahhh, so many memories.
Here's a pic of the inside of Wanamaker's, it's now a Macy's. I'm glad that the building still stands in all its glory.
