In reply to the discussion: Jews gather nationwide on Chanukah to challenge Islamophobia and racism [View all]politicman
(710 posts)As I said to the person who provided that link, statistics don't portray and accurate picture when some racism and bigotry is not even a crime and is even accepted by large chunks of the public as a good idea.
Example, multiple instances of locals council blocking or fighting to block the building of a mosque because those 'moooslims' are so scary. Please show me the multiple examples around the country of this happening when Jewish places of worship are scheduled to be built?
Example, multiple instances of major politicians and presidential candidates making public broad generalisations and bigoted attacks on Muslim people. Please show me the multiple examples of these same politicians directing the same kind of public bigotry against Jewish people?
Need I continue with the examples to show how statistics about crimes (keeping in mind that everyone recognises them as crimes) don't portray the real level of racism and bigotry directed against certain minority groups.
And lastly, 'people like yourself' refers to people like you, as in people who will always find a way to take something so innocuous as telling a room of people that they wont donate to him cause they can't control him and claiming it as some anti-Semitism trope because they happen to be Jewish people, when that same candidate has said the same things to people across the country and anyone who will listen.
