(45,251 posts)26. Just pointing out, the date of immigration to the US of your first US ancestor affects answers to
questions like this.
If your family came to this continent on the Mayflower, you are likelier to have had more ancestors in the military. If they came ten years ago, not so much. Also not so much if your first US ancestor arrived here after abolition of the draft.
I also tend to have a problem with questions like this because they imply that having had someone serve in the Revolutionary War or the Civil War somehow gives someone today some kind of bragging rights over the rest of us and I don't get that.
Finally, being non-violent, I'm sorry I know of no conscientious objectors in my family.

My great grandfather was of the age to fall between WWI and WWII. Never served.
