And I think the closest I have in any military was a great uncle. I'm not entirely sure only the military can be said to have "done anything for the country" however. It's an honorable profession of course, but you do what the leaders tell you to and sometimes that's not genuinely in the best interests of the country.

My great grandfather was of the age to fall between WWI and WWII. Never served.
