(at least on my Dad's side) dating back to the War of 1812. My family had not just service members, but combatants in that war, the Mexican-American War, the Civil War (on both sides), WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.
In a related-to-the-OP note, I would not piss on Donald Trump if he was fully engulfed in flames in my front yard, and I had just consumed a six-pack of Bud Light.

My great grandfather was of the age to fall between WWI and WWII. Never served.
