Tony Perkins’ FRC tells Obama: ‘Wages of sin is death’

A Christian think tank is telling President Barack Obama that the “wages of sin is death” after he announced support for equal marriage rights for LGBT people.

Family Research Council (FRC) — a hate group, according the the Southern Poverty Law Center — has asked pastors around the country to sign a letter to Obama, complaining that he had used the “presidential ‘bully pulpit’ to promote a lifestyle choice that the Bible not only deems as sinful, but has also proven to be harmful.”

“You cited the Golden Rule when you made your announcement,” the letter notes. “We are offended that you would use the Bible’s Golden Rule as a rationale for supporting behavior that the Bible clearly calls sin and even an abomination.”

It continues: “We believe that ‘the wages of sin is death’ (Rom. 6:23). So how does the Golden Rule apply to those engaging in not only sinful, but also harmful behaviors? If a person truly lives by the Golden Rule, and treats people the way he/she wants to be treated, that person will not promote what is harmful-not only to those who participate in the behavior but also to those who are impacted by its embrace.”
