36. This is a nightmare

What many people do not know is that out here, parents often commute LONG distances and may be hours from home..

I used to go 57 miles east every day, as my husband drove 65 miles northwest each way to work..

I got into it once with a school nurse who insisted that I pick up our son.. It was 2PM..school closed at 3, and I told her that with traffic, I could not even make it home until well after 4:30....

This was our "drama-queen" son who just wanted out of class. I'm sure that nurse wanted to nominate me for "worst Mom of the year", but when they refused to let him walk home or wait for his older brother (same school), I just told her she could sit with him until I got home (at 4:30) or choose another plan....She sent him back to class for the next hour and he was fine..
