I am much more of a pragmatist now, voting with my head but still having faith in my heart that is progressives worked harder rather than bitching on a political forum, we'd get the results we wanted. If we took the energy that we use on here complaining and whining and instead directed that anger at getting more liberals elected to lower level offices and in Congress, we'd be too powerful.
That's what the Teabaggers do. That's what Republicans have done for the last 30, 40, 50 years. They have run circles over us as for as establishing a very organized network of conservative thinkers, scholars, activists and so on. Again, if we devoted more time to doing what they have been so successful at doing, we wouldn't have to contend with the likes of ALEC because there would be NO Republican dominated state legislature. We wouldn't have to deal with an American Crossroads because KKKarl Rove would be in jail. And we certainly would not have had to deal with illegal wars, unpaid for medical plans, and extended tax cuts for the wealthy had we worked harder on the ground.
As Barney Frank so cogently put last week: American voters must accept some blame in this current scenario because we are willing to keep electing people who have screwed us.
I maintain that this election is not solely about Obama; it's about how hard we work on the ground to get more liberals elected to office. The biggest road block has been put up by the Blue Dog Democrats now serving in the Senate.
