Three Years of Business Experience Before Running for President [View all]
Today, I saw a clip in which Mitt Romney stated that one of his supporters stated that there should a constitutional requirement that one must have three years of business experience before becoming president. President Bush had three years of business experience and the net job creation rate during his time in office was only one million jobs. Also, the debt increased during his time in office by about $4-5 trillion. In addition, Mitt Romney had at least three years of business experience before becoming governor of massachusetts. During his term in office, massachusetts ranked 47 out of 50 states in job creation.
On the other hand, President Clinton did not have three years of business experience under his belt before becoming president. However, during the Clinton Administration the net job creation number was 22 million jobs. At the same time, the federal government's budget was balanced and/or in surplus for at least three years.
There are a number of other presidents that did not have business experience before becoming president. Republicans are very fond of one of those presidents. Maybe they should think about what would happen to their favorites if some of their ideas were put into place. It is possible; however, that they only want their ideas applied to Democrats.
