I only wish we could actually participate in that thread. It seems like an important topic here as the primaries come closer.

IMO Ms. Toad raised some very good arguments. (And I see Skinner seems unable or unwilling to respond to her final detailed post) I personally have not see any evidence yet of Manny encouraging others NOT to vote Democratic. Does anyone have any link? Maybe he did, but even if...I find the heavy handedness of the admin incredibly overbearing and unforgiving, with zero grain of salt given in this passionate primary season. Do we need a Democratic Underground Underground now? Why can't there be a little deference shown to long time members especially? I can see it for the hit and run trolls that have few posts. But jeez, the draconian hammer is disturbing and somewhat frightening to witness in here.

NYC_SKP as well, was banned for simply a play on words. He did NOT call anyone the C word. Yes, something rude was implied, but for fucks sake, we are all grownups (I think), we can say shit fuck and asshole on here with no warnings. I think there should be some other stage on DU between hiding a post for a suggestive phrase and outright banning. A week or month time out maybe?

Anyways, I find the loss of Manny to be a big loss for DU itself. Here was someone who tried to use humour and satire to make his point. Some didn't get it, some didn't like it, but I thought it was funny. But satire that makes his targets look more like fools than if he just dryly called them out, has a much greater power to infuriate. I'm sure that Fox News would have loved to have banned Jon Stewart years (decades) ago if they had only had the same power. So a few true believers from the Hillary Defense Corps made it their mission to alert every post they could of Manny until he was gone.
