it's a deliberate attempt to spoil another person's bit of enjoyment, surprise, whatever...basically passive/aggressive nonsense.

*Thelma and Louise spoiler below, if that warning is necessary*

When Thelma and Louise first came out on video, a friend told a co-worker that she was planning to pick up the movie on her way home and was excited to see it, had missed it the the theater. Co-worker said "Oh, I loved that movie until the end when they drove off the cliff."

Pure nasty.
