But he never fooled me. I was always suspicious of him, and I knew there was something wrong with him.

As far as "happy," I don't think anyone's out saying they're happy. If they are, what they're more likely trying to say is that they have some measure of satisfaction that a little justice might prevail. In this case, it is way, way too late, and had anyone given credence to the stories from some of the women, he wouldn't have been able to continue his career as a rapist for as long as he did. Usually, justice delayed is justice denied. As old as he is, he will never serve the sentence he deserves.

I have read many of the news stories, including the ones in New York Magazine, and there is no doubt in my mind that there is something mentally wrong with him.
