... is news reports that say Cosby's career has been "tarnished" by these accusations.

Wouldn't the more appropriate description be that his career has been "utterly destroyed, annihilated, blown to bits, nuked, stomped-out, relegated to the dustbin of history, demolished beyond all recognition," etc.?

One's career is "tarnished" by addiction to drugs/alcohol, bankruptcy, a string of messy divorces, or a reputation for being difficult to work with.

Given the accusations and the number of accusers, I think Mr. Cosby's career passed the "tarnished" stage a long time ago.
