and understand that we are not going to produce the income necessary to fund all the things we want -- low-cost education, health care, good paying jobs, social security, etc. -- trading among ourselves in the 21st Century. Now, how trade benefits get distributed to society and taxed, is an entirely different issue. I prefer the latter problem of deciding how to distribute the trade benefits to people who deserve it vs. being a poorer country in a world economy with little to distribute. I also believe a growing world economy is good for everyone, including us.
