26. It really depends on the company running it

The place closest to me is a Regal Cinema. Endless trailers. I went to see a late show of "Lucy" a couple years ago that was supposed to start at 10PM, and the film got underway at 10:30

As I said elsewhere, I found a theater that is a mall multiplex called Cinemaworld that only runs three trailers and never runs ads after the published the start time. It seems they are only operating in Rhode Island and Florida strange enough.
