The trash functions don't affect what you see on the front page.

Ergo, the best advice is to access DU by GD or the Lounge or another reasonably safe space, and never ever EVER go to the Home Page.

(I don't always follow my own advice. Now that I've made everyday DU-browsing safe, I occasionally miss the spectacle. )
