get the shot. I dragged my feet because it cost over $200 and wasn't covered by my insurance (bless their hearts). Also, the tv commercials annoy me. 1/3 of those who had chicken pox will get shingles!!!!. I'd always think, yeah but 2/3 won't. That means a majority of those who had chicken pox won't get shingles.
However, after hearing that a couple of acquaintances (or their relatives) had it and how much they suffered, and considering the possible residual effectss, i grit my teeth and got the shot. It doesn't even totally prevent shingles! And whatever protective effect it has diminishes with age! For +$200 I think it should last a couple of fkg lifetimes.
