(14,556 posts)I remember seeing him back in the 80's in Vancouver. An incredible line up in that concert. Flaming Lips, Peter Gabriel, and David Bowie! Our group was short one ticket and had to buy one from a scalper. I'll always remember...I mentioned something to the male scalper about saving one of the ticket for himself, and he said "Oh no, I'd never go see Bowie, he's a fag!" Some people deny themselves to witness such creative genius over such petty ugly bias. He rocked that night and I'll always be happy to say I saw him perform live.
And he wasn't afraid to get political. Here is a song that may make my American friends uncomfortable, but when it came out, I speak for most all non-Americans across the world, this resonated with us during that last part of the Bush regime. Its not the official video which was a little lame. (Trent Reznor chasing Bowie around the streets). This is what we, in the rest of the world, saw in our heads when we heard this song:
