(7,351 posts)If the Chargers move, they have to pay the NFL a relocation fee...plus share the costs of the new stadium (along with the profits...if any). The real moolah is going to be the entertainment zone around the area which the current Rams owner will develop and will not share the profits. If they they stay put then the NFL will give them 100 Mill in helping with the stadium updates (or new stadium).
Raiders have the option to move to LA if Chargers opt out...but they have the same deal. Wouldn't be surprised if the Raiders started looking at San Antonio, TX.
So basically, move and hope you make money or stay put on more of a sure thing.
Realistically, LA can't support two NFL teams. You have two Basketball teams, an LA based Hockey and Baseball team with an Orange County Hockey and Baseball team 30 minutes (no traffic...which is rare) down the road. And then you have two College Football teams which has been filling the "need" for awhile.....and all this will still be a big draw. Economics just not there for two NFL teams.
