(23,867 posts)I remember. What about Iggy Pop, Captain Beefheart, Zappa, just to name some more famous ones. Even they weren't on radio. Not at all. Even on the small college stations, things were not geared toward ecclectic rock. But what I'm discovering now is that there were all kinds of GREAT bands that were never heard.
I swear I see this just like how I see the way we have had lousy programs pushed on us by our media and corporate politicians. I would listen to KOME in the early 70's, and think people were mad to listen to all of that corporate noise. Then I'd run over to KFJC and listen to stuff I've never heard before; nothing ever repeating. I find it so surprising that music was one of the things that became corporatized. Led Zep over and over.
Thanks to youtube, there's a treasure trove of stuff from the earlier years. Like these guys
