Federal land a percentage of California is 45.8%, California has more federal land than any southern state
and California has the 3rd most total of Federal acreage behind only to Alaska and Nevada,
and many of the states with lowest federal land are southern red states

Alabama 2.6% is fed land
Louisiana 4.6%
Mississippi 5.1%
South Carolina 4.4%
and Texas 1.8%
