(36,925 posts)An EEOC complaint is a means of redress for YOU, not the government. The most common remedy for someone in your situation would be back pay. These cases often take a long time to reach resolution. So let's say 6 months from now, you get a job somewhere else. This employer could be ordered to pay back pay from the time you would have got the job with them to when you got a job somewhere else. Back pay usually includes interest, and legal fees also. If you get depressed over this and see a medical professional about it, you can also get reimbursed for medical expenses.
