(5,178 posts)school she was "darkening" as a blond, but had VERY light hair, just nothing like the "peroxide blonds" of movies. She was insulted when it was implied that she'd ever enhanced her hair color. Although she gradually darkened to a very light brown, she never "messed" with her hair until later life when she actually "reversed (darker) frosting" when she was really getting gray. I had my Dad's dark hair and premature gray from both sides of the family. Ironically my brother inherited the blond hair, but accompanied by early balding. I have developed into a premature graying (first gray hairs in college), but do nothing because my hair looks pretty good as as it is, and looked better frosted or streaked rather than back to my medium brown ( a phony looking disaster).
