What Harney County safety committee wants (OPINION)
The Harney County Safety Committee hosted a town hall meeting in downtown Burns, Or., Jan 8, 2016. The group formed last week to press grievances against the government.

The Harney County Committee of Safety wants to be clear about its intent. Since forming in mid-December 2015, we have maintained open lines of communication with all who attempted a dialogue, which included members of the occupiers' protest at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. ...
.... We have grown to 106 county resident members out of a voting population of about 2,900. As we move forward, working together in our county, torn by such unexpected events, we continue to focus on what brought us to form this committee: Dwight and Steven Hammond, our neighbors and our friends who are now in federal prison .......
