What Causes Poor Uneducated White People To Vote Republican?

40. That's my brother. We grew up in a very Republican family

Both our parents were staunch Republicans. My mother used to have a framed photo of Ronnie in her kitchen. When I'd go home--as a 30 something adult in the 1980's--I'd want
to throw up when I went in the kitchen.

My brother never broke away from the family. He's very well educated--MD/Ph.D--and he's worked for Big Pharma for the last 15 years. At one time he was faculty in
the Med School at a major university, but he left that for the chance to make big$$ working for Big Pharma.

Therein lies the key to him: he's all about the money. I tried to get him to vote for Kerry in 2004--appealing to his scientific mind--and got nowhere. One of his grown
kids has told me (4 out of 5 of his kids are Dems) that they can't get him to vote anything other than Republican because he doesn't want to pay higher taxes. That's it.
That's the sum total of why he votes Republican.

He should know better but all he cares about is $$ in his pocket.
