A responsible journalist, given all the evidence that these voter suppression efforts are coordinated, would have not stopped at, "This is a solution without a problem" because it allows the liar vindication in a single instance of an ineligible voter, voting.

No! A responsible journalist would ask, "Since you cannot justify your strategy with a single instance of voter fraud; yet you continue to press the tact, there must be a different reason, given the money that the gop is spending on it."
