In the past we didn't have a home for welcome threads like this, but we do now in the Welcome & Help Forum: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1256

Because everyone might not be aware of the forum we are letting this thread continue, however in the future similar threads will be locked. We encourage everyone to use the Welcome & Help forum that is designed specifically for threads just like this.
