and just when it seems like he's going to slip off into oblivion, he gets his shit together and has a second act" story. His profession is relatively unimportant in the big scheme of things--he could as easily be a politician or a pundit....Tiger is "interesting" (and I use that word advisedly) because he had it all--the beautiful wife and beautiful kids, the beautiful homes, the life of a Big Wig Who Has It All, and who Threw It All Away for a surfeit of sex that was just stupid in the extreme.

It's more than sports--it's life...ugly, failing, falling short, pisspoor judgment, hurt-yer-family, disgrace-yerself life...and the suggestion of a resurrection.

We humans find that kind of stuff interesting!
