(11,619 posts)What they have is absolute control of all legislation in the United States Congress. A sewage plant does not get named after George W. Bush unless they pass it.
In 24 states, they have a trifecta, which means they control Governor, the state senate, and the state house.
They control 34 governors.
In another 6 states, the control the State House and Senate
55% of all state Senators are Republican and 56% of all state representatives.
I will add, governors manage the state offices that control running elections and counting the vote.
The fact that they don't control the White House is annoying to them and threatens their Control of the Supreme Court.
There have been numerous stories pointing out that Republicans, fearful that Donald Trump will cause big losses in the House, Senate and even the States, are considering running a third party candidate and throwing the election.
They can lose the White House and still control most of the Cards.
The losses must be much deeper than the White House to make that big a dent. Their fear is that Trump will say something so stupid that Americans will flock in the millions to elect a Democrat. A big turn out of Democrats means the US Senate goes goodbye, they will lose seats in the House, a bunch of governors, and a handful of State Houses and Senates.
I don't think the Republican Party will go anywhere for a while.
