(75,480 posts)57. Anybody read "The Drifters" by James Michner?
It was about the 1968 Chicago convention and protests and the effects it had on a group of college aged kids involved in it, well the first couple of chapters anyway. Although fiction, Michner had a pretty firm understanding of what, why and how it happened.
Yes, you are right. There are some striking similarities, except that time it was protests against the Democrats and the corruption in Chicago's City Hall culture.

No. I was a kid then but that was hard core violence and disruption inside the convention itself
